Chiyumba Ossome a native of Nairobi, Kenya, at age six was able to express her emotions and communicate to the world through her music.
Exceptional and multi-faceted, Chiyumba was crowned Miss Kenya USA in 2007, performed at the Apollo Amateur Theatre in Harlem as well as Community Talent Shows, Faith Based Organizations, Football and Baseball Games, and additional Community Foundation Charity Events. Chiyumba has been featured in plays such as “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” and "Loose Knit", at Sacramento State University. Giving back to her community Chiyumba likes mentoring youth, helping them soar high to educational success.
Chiyumba’s sultry voice was inspired by; Beyonce, Brandy, India Arie, Jill Scott and Musiq Soulchild. Her musical endeavors were also motivated by such African artists as; Koffi Olomide, Awilo Longomba, Munishi, and the late Miriam Makeba.
Produced by Michael Kitchens and De Andre Griffin, Chiyumba’s debut album with her single “Prowl Tonight” is set to drop in the first quarter of 2010. In her spare time Chiyumba is pursuing a BA degree in Kinesiology from Sacramento State University.
